Sun-smart is Term 1 and term 4. You may need to extend the implementation os sun-smart longer, depending on the UV rase and the day.

UV exposure during childhood has a big impact on skin cancer risk – but it’s almost entirely preventable with good UV protection.

SunSmart recommends early childhood services and schools develop and implement a comprehensive, evidence-informed UV protection policy to reduce UV exposure and encourage the use of all five forms of sun protection.

Communication to families:

Dear families,

It is that time of year again, as we are heading into the warmer months, its important to be SunSmart and ensure they are protected from the sun's UV rase as best as we can. Children are required to wear appropriate hats and sunscreen.

It is Woodlands duty of care to ensure that the children stay safe and are protected while enjoying the outdoor environments.

Please remember to send your child with the following items each day:

A refillable water bottle to keep them hydrated.
A wide brim hat to protect the children's faces and necks.
Appropriate clothing to protect them from the sun (no thin straps/singlets)
Sunscreen on before leaving the house, Woodlands provided sunscreen of SPF50, and it is applied every 2 hours from when the child arrives. If you require a different sunscreen due to sensitive skin or a diagnosed allergy, please email your Campus Leadership team and they will advise you of what is needed.
Some spare clothes just in case children participate in outdoor wet play.
